What is Pilates?Pilates is a system of mind-body conditioning that was created by German, Joseph Hubert Pilates in the early 20th century. Joseph Pilates created exercises which are performed using either a floor mat or a variety of specialised equipment, including the reformer. Pilates will teach you body awareness and healthy posture whilst enhancing physical strength, flexibility and co-ordination. Aside from the physical benefits it can reduce stress, improve mental focus and boost your sense of well-being. Pilates offers a solution for everybody - from those with restricted mobility through to elite athletes. No matter what your age or fitness level, Pilates can help you.

How can Pilates help me?As the inventor of Pilates, Joseph Pilates, famously said “You will feel better in 10 sessions, look better in 20 session, and have a completely new body in 30 sessions”. Pilates is a high intensity, low impact workout focussing on strengthening and muscle conditioning in a safe and effective way. Pilates has many benefits from helping people who suffer from poor posture, back pain, weak pelvic floor and tight muscles to really toning and sculpting the body and results are visible in a short amount of time. We recommend 3 classes a week to see and feel the results.
-
Can men do Pilates?ABSOLUTLEY! Did you know the Pilates Reformer machine was designed by a bloke ?! YES Joseph Pilates.. Pilates has a certain stigma that it's "only for women" BUT pilates reformer has so many benefits both both sexes. Males in particular can benefit from balancing out the muscle groups and is a perfect addition to compliment your current training. Men traditionally can suffer from tight muscles and a weaker core, pilates reformer can help by lengthening and strengthening muscles you didn't even know you had while stretching and improving overall flexibility - and you use your abdominals in nearly every exercise, so goodbye to that niggly back pain and hunchy shoulders - pilates is GREAT for your posture. We will focus more on upper body and may use heavier weights during your class.
-
